Helping charitable organizations to continue their important work while doing something that you enjoy is a great way to derive even more satisfaction from your athletic endeavors. That is why we are so grateful to the Walkway Marathon/Treetops to Rooftops partners who are joining forces to raise funds for the Walkway Over the Hudson Organization, the official 501(c)(3) charity of the race event weekend. Because the Walkway is committed to enhancing the lives of those in need in the Hudson Valley, we are pleased to offer a limited number of entries to our neighboring regional and local nonprofit organizations. Run/walk and raise funds to fulfill the promise of the Walkway!
Charity Partner Guidelines
If you represent a 501(c)(3) charity and would like to participate as an “Official” 2017 Walkway Marathon, Half Marathon, or Treetops to Rooftops 5K Charity Partner, please read the following guidelines:
- Primary beneficiary is the Walkway Over the Hudson Organization, which is dedicated to completing important park projects and enhancing the visitors experience. We ask that all Charity Partners please consider donating a portion of their fundraising proceeds to Walkway Over the Hudson.
- A finite number of entries have been reserved for Charity Affiliates on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Charity Affiliates must purchase a minimum of 30 bibs in selected races in order to be recognized as a partner.
- Charity Affiliates are required to provide a minimum of 15 volunteers to man the hydration stations on the race course during the June 11 event. Volunteers will work directly with the Walkway Marathon’s Volunteer Coordinator on water stop location.
- Following the event, all Charity Affiliates must submit an event report that details the results of their fundraising efforts. This report is required before reapplying for the following year’s event.

2017 Charity Partners
Sparrow’s Nest of the Hudson Valley provides two meals, once a week, to the families of caregivers diagnosed with cancer. Caregivers are defined as legal guardians of children, under the age of 18, who are currently living in the caregiver’s home. Caregivers diagnosed with any cancer that requires chemo, radiation or surgery qualify. All recipients must live within a 20 mile radius of the charity’s health department-approved kitchen in Hopewell Junction.
