The Walkway Marathon, Half Marathon, Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club 5K, and Think Differently Dash could not take place without the dedicated support of many volunteers.
All of our volunteer opportunities require you to work on your feet. A standard shift will be from 4-6 hours, depending on the size and distance of each race. Once you’ve signed up, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you directly to determine your duties. Although we will try our best to assign you to the job of your choice, please be advised that you may be reassigned to multiple positions as needed. Certain volunteers may be asked to report earlier than others, and some may stay later. Most volunteers will arrive about 90 minutes before the race start and remain until all responsibilities are completed.
For each race there are various ways to help. When registering please choose desired volunteer task and we will do our best to assign you to your preference. All volunteer positions are on a first come first serve basis so it’s best to register early.
Upon registering for a volunteer role, you will receive an automatic email confirmation; you will then receive more information on your volunteer position closer to race day.
Volunteer positions needed include but are not limited to:
- Think Differently Dash Support
- Expo Support
- Bike Pacers and Sweeps
- Course Marshal
- Course Signage
- Event Green Team
- Event Set Up
- Event Clean Up
- Post Race Food
- Water Station Set Up and Take Down
- Water Stations Teams
Have questions on volunteering, please contact Susanne O’Neil.
Thank you for choosing to be a Walkway Marathon volunteer. Volunteers are instrumental to the success of the race. As the marathon approaches, we will provide you with more detailed information about your volunteer role. Once you are registered as a marathon volunteer, you will receive informational emails, and event updates which will help answer any questions that you might have. Many thanks again for volunteering and being a part the event!
Online volunteer registration is now open. We encourage volunteers to register as groups/teams with a group leader (point of contact) designated. The group leader will register the entire group and have the responsibility to ensure all volunteers within the group read, understand and follow the volunteer guidelines. Groups of 20 or more receive priority access to the designated locations, first come first served basis.
